HP Officejet Printer Prints Backwards
If your HP Officejet printer starts printing text & images backwards just out of the blue, don’t panic. It’s a known bug that occurs on Windows XP after installing Service Pack 3. In my situation, I deleted the printer and then reinstalled it which fixed it. However, HP does provide a knowledge base article with a simpler fix.
IssueAfter downloading and installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 on the computer, the HP product prints text and images backwards or as a mirror image of what appears on-screen when printing from any program.Click OK to apply the change.
SolutionTo resolve the issue, turn off mirror imaging in Printer Preferences . To do this, use the following steps:
From the Windows taskbar, click Start and then click Run . Type control printers in the Open box and then press Enter . The Printers and Faxes window displays. Right-click the HP product from the list of printers and then select Properties . The Properties dialog box displays. From the General tab, click Printing Preferences . The Printing Preferences dialog box displays. Click the Advanced tab.Under Printer Features , click Mirror Image , click the down arrow to the right of the field, and then click Off .

Thank you so much. Very appreciated!
I have been experiencing an ongoing problem of coupons printing backwards – a mirror image – on my HP OfficeJet Pro L7680. This resolved that issue. I could not find any such resolution anywhere else. Thank you so much!
Ny HP5780 All-In-One printer is printing some docments backwards (mirror image) and some documents correctly. How do I fix this?
Our HP J5780 keeps turning it back on after resetting to off mirror image. Each time we have to reset it.
Thank you so much. I would never have found this “feature.”
HP L7580 has developed the same problem in the last few days, but only when printing from a computer via the network. The computer the printer is attached to does nto have this problem. Tried the fix described above but there is no “mirror image” option under Printer Features on our system. I have followed the above instructions to the letter three times and cannot find anything labeled “mirror image” or anything like it. Any other ideas? Thanks
