Google Toolbar Locks Internet Explorer 8

The Google toolbar keeps crashing for me which totally locks the IE 8 Beta 1. This is the error message that I get even when running the latest version 5 of the toolbar.

Google Toolbar Crashing Internet Explorer

Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, and this does work with Google Toolbar Version 5! Version 4 will NOT work.

Update 2: I’m still receiving sporadic Data Execution Prevention errors, which I’m suspicious are related to Google Toolbar. Use Google Toolbar at your own risk.

Unfortunately, all current versions of Google Toolbar crash Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1. IE8 does include better security features similar to McAfee’s Site Advisor. The new features basically replace features excluding accessing bookmarks from anywhere and site ratings. Using the “Emulate IE7″ doesn’t change the circumstances either. It only changes the view of pages within tabs and not the function of IE all-together. Sorry no good news with my current troubleshooting.

    Here’s my scenario…

Installed IE8 as I thought it’d be nice to play with WebSlices but the damn thing kept crashing.

I loaded IE with no add-one and then switched to IE7 emulation, restarted and loaded the toolbar. Works.

    But…

I tolerated IE crashing before occassionally when I used the Google Saerch in the toolbar, hey, you have to put up with these things right…?

Now I’m sat here thinking, OK, so WHAT do I actually need this damn thing for…?

All the tools I use on the Google Toolbar I can get elsewhere.

It’s about time we saw a fix for this.

Best is just to use Firefox, there are many plugins which has same functions as google toolbar.
I was in total shock when i upgraded to IE7, what a load of ….
IE6 is much better imo and more userfriendly and fully custumizable.

I would use Firefox. But it looks too ugly. :P I won’t delete IE for a toolbar.

Why shocked? IE7 is FAR more better than IE6.

Same problem, additional info… Installed IE8 last night, chose to carry over existing links from Ffox. Slow. Opened wsj.com, hang and crash. Here’s the rub – tried to system restore and uninstall, no going back! Tried reinstall IE7, no! Removed google toolbar and it’s better. Cannot open Gmail. This was totally a mistake to install.

I’ve edited the above post to include the following:

I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, and this does work with Google Toolbar Version 5! Version 4 will NOT work. Make sure you update to version 5. This should fix your crashing issues.
