Google has released a new version of Google Talk which includes several neat features including file transfer, voicemail, and music status sharing. The Official Google Blog Says, “You can share any type of file, several at a time if you like.” Want to send your friend a executable file?? You can. I tried it. So what is going to prevent W32.gtalk.A@mm virus???

Gee, I don’t know, Kirb. Antivirii? Common sense? Wait, I know what! Let’s just unplug ourselves from the internet! That way you can be safe and comfy in your own private Idaho. Wouldn’t that be just great?

Simple. Move to Linux. You won’t catch any virus starting with W32 :)

And I agree with Iuri, common sense is the best way. If somebody has all the lastest and best antivirus, firewall, antispyware, antietc installed, but he opens attachments on emails from strangers, then he has a problem. No software in the world can do anything to protect stupid users.

First, you need to hit the ‘Send’ button to send a file.
Second, the person you are sending to it neeeds to hit ‘receive’.
Third, even if they receive the file, it goes into a MyDocuments directory, not a directory that is executed upon bootup.

Glad people are asking questions, but there is no need to be paranoid.

ugh.. i hate it when people think their virus problems will go away when they switch to linux. If everyone switched their OS, so would the virus writers. Users need to up their IQ’s!
